Position Overview

Our U.S. Distribution Group, located in Stamford, Connecticut is currently seeking a Senior Business Implementation Associate for our team. The role is part of our Business Implementation Group, in Legg Mason's asset management and mutual funds distribution business.

 

Product lines supported are mutual funds, Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), 401(k), variable investment trusts, 529's alternatives and retail separate accounts.

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to

Upon notification of a shelf space win for our investment product at an intermediary financial firm, the Senior Business Implementation Associate will coordinate and manage the implementation of the arrangement (Intermediary Onboarding) through close contact and collaboration with internal cross-functional business partners (sales, account services, product, legal, compliance, finance, operations and others) and performing related project management, and other requirements (completing the necessary contracts, securing and collecting internal approvals, regulatory risk management, etc.). There will be a mix of independent work following the contract issuance including updating internal databases, record retention and reporting.

 

There are also opportunities for ad hoc work items addressing legal/regulatory and audit requests, and participation in various database updates and reporting requests.

 

  • Deal execution (the Business Implementation Group drives/leads this process and involves cross-functional team members as appropriate);
  • Contract review and interpretation (initial contract review to insure substantive and business terms are included/correct);
  • Issue resolution (internal and with the client);
  • Obtain necessary contract sign-offs;
  • Collaboration with business partners and internal parties;
  • Participate as a dependable member of cross-functional project teams (sales, account services, compliance, legal, product, finance, operations, etc.);
  • Follow, review and continually update standardized protocols surrounding contract content and internal department procedures;
  • Handle large-scale time sensitive legal/regulatory projects;
  • Accurate and timely document retention;
  • Assist clients with contractual fund availability and pricing/revenue sharing/service fee questions (internal and external);
  • Help sales, operations, finance and others with contractual inquiries related to pricing, processes, shelf space, and other regulatory matters;
  • Conduct initial and ongoing due diligence reviews of financial intermediary business partners to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with board policies and best practices;
  • Lifecycle review/termination of business arrangements;
  • Provide ad hoc and routine reporting. 

Ideal Qualifications and Experience

Ideal Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5-7+ years of work experience in a corporate environment with 3-5+ years of work in the asset management or similar financial services industry experience desired;
  • Related Bachelor's degree, with an advanced Masters degree a plus;
  • Technologically proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, Outlook, Word, SharePoint, Visio), as well as Adobe.
