Position Overview

Are you passionate about writing and developing content for financial advisors? Legg Mason is seeking an innovative Program Manager with a fresh approach to advisor engagement programs to join our Global Marketing team.

As the Program Manager, you would be responsible for running the day-to-day efforts for Legg Mason’s value-add program. The underlying content is designed for use by wholesalers, financial advisors, and end investors. This position reports to our Managing Director, Head of Global Strategic Partner Firms Marketing.

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to

  • Maintain, enhance and add to an existing library of industry award-winning material.
  • Coordinate with our internal marketing team, sales team and external partner firms to ensure our program suite remains impactful, timely and relevant.
  • Actively promote our program internally and externally on an ongoing basis. 
  • Research and develop new modules for use by financial advisors (and potentially, their clients).
  • Write and distribute promotional communications for use online, in emails, and on social media.
  • Transform the delivery of certain topics from hard copy/in-person to a digitally oriented, online approach.
  • Work with the Legg Mason Analytics and Digital teams to track specific metrics to measure use and effectiveness.
  • Maintain ongoing research of competitors’ value-add programs.
  • Serve as a liaison to the sales team to handle regular inquiries on support materials available.
  • Train the sales team on content, as needed.

Ideal Qualifications and Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in finance or marketing.
  • Background in writing and editing for financial advisors and investors in multiple mediums (e.g., brochures, presentations, digital/web, social media, and email).
  • Have managed a program tied to practice management or investor education content or, have had a great deal of exposure to this type of material.
  • Proven track record of writing and/or editing high-quality content in the finance industry. Writing samples will be required.
  • Experience managing the day-to-day of a value-add program, or working with financial advisors in a training or coaching capacity.
  • Keen understanding of financial advisors and the manner in which they run their practices and interact with clients.
  • Comprehension of practice management, investing, wealth management and financial planning concepts.
  • Series 7 licensed.
  • Credentials tied to coaching advisors or investing/portfolio construction advantageous (i.e., ICF, CPCC, MSC, CIMA, CFP or CFA).
