Position Overview

Legg Mason is seeking an innovative and enthuastic Channel Manager to execute all marketing-related programmes and support for funds domiciled in the UK, Dublin and Luxembourg. The Global Marketing team acts a hub in providing key product and positioning communication to Legg Mason’s international offices conducting business in Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan), Canada, Australia, and Latin America. 

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to

You will be working with the Head of European Channel marketing on campaign plans for lead generation, product focused, cross sell, and retention activities to ensure marketing and business targets are met. The main areas of responsibility are the creation, execution, and delivery of marketing materials to support the sales teams in Europe, primarily Nordics, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, France, and Benelux. Understanding the nature of the distribution channels and client segments in Europe as well as having an understanding of mutual funds will be key to delivering successful marketing programs.


Key Duties:


  • Develop and create marketing materials for new and existing products, providing writing assistance where appropriate.
  • Organise and deliver marketing campaigns and collateral, working closely with peers across the business, subsidiaries, and external agencies when required.
  • Partner with the European sales teams to understand the local markets and clients and offer strategic input and proactive marketing support for all distribution channels, as necessary.
  • Develop campaign messaging to achieve marketing objectives.
  • Assist in writing agency briefs where required.
  • Create educational marketing materials to support all channels.
  • Provide marketing support for fund manager presentation days, roadshows, and client events.
  • Provide marketing support for external conferences and events that Legg Mason sponsors in Europe.
  • Work with communications teams outside of Channel Marketing such as email marketing and global web services.
  • Regularly report on agreed KPIs.
  • Ensure that all external communications meet local regulatory requirements and are structured to meet the principle of 'treating customers fairly'.

 Technical Skills:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in brand/marketing communications department, ideally within Asset Management industry
  • Excellent understanding of marketing production process (including Compliance) and knowledge of e-commerce
  • Technical understanding of investments and different asset classes to enable succinct articulation of the benefits of any given fund.
  • Existing relationships with conference organisers, agencies and platforms and with marketing managers from peer organisations preferred.
  • Understanding of the European markets and the main distribution channels and clients
  • Deep understanding of the distribution channels and major distributors in one or more European countries.
  • Leverages knowledge of and relationship with sales to create programs to increase sales and retain assets.
