Position Overview

Legg Mason is currently seeking a senior level Corporate Real Estate Operations Manager to join the Real Estate & Corporate Services team in Stamford, CT. Our beautiful office is conveniently located in the First Stamford Place/Hilton Hotel complex (45 minutes from Grand Central Terminal and 1 block from the Metro North station). 

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to

Facilities Management:

  • Direct daily oversite of office facility operations in our Stamford, CT office
  • Supervise the Office Administrator in our New York office. Provide guidance on facility-related matters as well as overall employee development
  • Troubleshoot facilities issues as they arise and identify/implement resolution with respective third party vendors and/or building operations
  • Create facility programs that can be leveraged among all locations
  • Implement sustainable facility management practices
  • Manage third party vendors to make repairs as needed, to include but not be exclusive of: lamping; floor system repairs, ceiling tile repairs, plumbing, drywall and paint, and general office repairs
  • Assist Building Operational staff in troubleshooting systems issues (i.e. MEP, alarms, etc.) and coordinating building PM initiatives/schedules in Stamford and NY
  • Manage employee re-stacks, relocations, and related items in Stamford and assisting in NY when needed
  • Maintain preventive maintenance and systems tests and planned outages for Stamford office equipment, coordinating with other internal departments for anticipated impact to service. Develop and manage PM schedules for all Stamford equipment and assisting with NY PM schedules if needed
  • In partnership with Legg Mason's Finance department, assist in developing and maintaining operating budget for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Create/configure and manage employee ID badges in global security system
  • Act as liaison with Legg Mason's IT department for building operations coordination
  • Develop and execute plans to meet needs of internal staff, including moves, restacks, and tenant construction. Work closely with technology team to coordinate efforts       
  • Assist with preparation of Business Continuity recovery
  • Review and code invoices for services
  • Other related duties as assigned 

Project Management: 

  • Manage entire real estate construction project cycle from conceptual idea to delivering the final product on-time and on (or under) budget
  • Work with architects to develop conceptual design and construction documentation based on the client’s requirements
  • Prepare bid request for proposal packages, solicit competitive bids on materials and services, analyze proposals and recommend contractors
  • Manage project schedule to include coordinating GC, low voltage, furniture delivery, etc. to ensure that all critical dates are met
  • Ensure projects are properly closed out with the various permitting agencies, fire department, and Landlords

Ideal Qualifications and Experience

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; degree/education in Real Estate, Operations, Engineering or Construction a plus
  • 6-8 years' relevant work experience
  • Must have real estate project management experience on spaces larger than 10,000 square feet
  • Engineering or PMP certification preferred
  • Ability to interpret construction plans
  • Ability and willingness to travel occaisionally, as this position requires limited travel to our NY office and our Baltimore office
  • Availability to work outside of normal working hours (nights, weekends) on occaision, as deemed necessary
  • Must be an independent self-starter who is able to handle multiple projects
  • Computer proficiency with working knowledge of Windows, Word, Power Point, and Excel

  • Ability to read and analyze construction reports
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the business community
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and present information to clients, tenants, employees, partners and other divisions


Interpersonal Skills:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing, present a professional image at all times, gain the trust and confidence of others, work cooperatively with a variety of individuals, and always project a positive attitude
  • Strong customer service skills required
  • Must be a team player


Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
