Position Overview

Legg Mason is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Senior Business Intelligence Analyst (BIA) to be part of the Digital Business Intelligence team.  The BIA will report to the Head of Digital Business Intelligence and work across the organization globally to define its business processes and translate it to technical requirements as part of the firm’s enterprise data management strategy. The role will be responsible for building a strong BIA competency and work with the other technology groups to optimize IT solutions. The Sr. BIA will work out of our Baltimore office.

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to

 

  • Responsible for leading Legg Mason’s BIA area including:
    • Work with organizational leadership to determine business requirements, priorities, define key performance indicators (KPI)
    • Contribute as part of the BI Leadership team to the enterprise data strategy. This includes working with business and development teams to design, and document dashboards, alerts, and reports.
    • Accountable for providing leadership and independent initiatives in facilitating information gathering, structured documentation and presentation of findings to all levels of management.
    • Conduct analyses of functional business processes and functional business requirements and participate in the development of business cases in the support of process changes and/or IT projects.
    • Establishing standards, policies and procedures for the BIA team
    • Review and provide input into project schedules for the respective BIA, Functional Design and QA Testing activities
    • Review of Statements of Work to identify risk and activities for vendors on project deliverables

Ideal Qualifications and Experience

 

Position Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 8 years of job-related experience in Information Technology organizations
  • Minimum of 5 years of analyst experience working in Business Intelligence function at a financial services company or similar role
  • Experience and detailed understanding of interdependency of business functions within the Asset Management industry
  • Familiarity with best practices for developing business requirements and business cases for enterprise data management projects
  • Evidence of strong leadership and communication skills at a senior leve
  • Ability to build trusted relationships across the functional organization and direct and influence business partners that are critical to the success of the technology strategy
  • Strong sense of accountability for all business requirements and data analytics even where ownership resides with the respective functional areas
  • Experience in Business Intelligence, data solutions and projects
  • Deep understanding of data governance and quality control
  • Exemplary diplomatic skills and ability to help senior business leaders see value, opportunity and concerns beyond their own area of expertise
  • Solid business acumen, with demonstrated ability to understand the drivers of business performance and the interdependencies of business processes and data utilization
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis
  • Ability to manage, influence and develop a team of independent and self-motivated professionals
  • Ability to understand complex financial data and models
  • Thorough knowledge of data management policies, practices and technologies
