Position Overview

Legg Mason is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Director of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships to develop Legg Mason Investments’ relationships within the Advisory sales channel, primarily with Financial Advisory Networks, rating agencies, platforms and life companies. 

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to

  • Work closely with the Head of UK Sales to develop large Financial Advisory relationships at regional level across both Legg Mason Investments range of products and to expand Legg Mason Investments’ range of products on IFA firms’ panels, managed solutions and existing 3rd party platforms.
  • Build Legg Mason Investments’ presence within the 3rd party channel by proactively targeting sales teams across the region where Legg Mason Investments has existing relationships.
  • Work closely with Legg Mason’s Alternative Distribution Strategies team to uncover potential new distribution opportunities
  • Develop strong relationships with key client targets and a clear understanding of their product needs and the evolution of the advisory marketplace
  • Present the Legg Mason investment proposition in a coherent and persuasive manner to target client list
  • Maintain a clear understanding of onshore and offshore funds and communicate these effectively to IFA and 3rd party relationships.
  • Maintain knowledge of financial markets, competitor products and their positioning.
  • Work with Client Relationship support team in London to help service existing clients and source new business opportunities.
  • Work with other colleagues in LMGD as a whole across the different distribution channels to collaborate and exploit opportunities for all cross selling globally.

Ideal Qualifications and Experience


  • 10-15+ years’ experience in the asset management or similar financial services industry experience desired
  • Educated to degree level, with Postgraduate degree or professional qualification in the asset management industry advantageous
