Legg Mason's Corporate Finance team is seeking an analytical, experienced Sr. Financial Analyst to join the Finance Business Support team and serve as a Business Partner to Legg Mason's Information Technology departments. The position is based at the Legg Mason Baltimore headquarters in Harbor East.

As a Finance Business Partner, you will support the IT departments with activities related to financial planning and reporting (FP&A activities). Additionally, you will support the company's overall technology spend and assist in the planning process while performing analysis and generating management reports as it relates to technology infrastructure, cyber security, data management, and project spend.  Given the interaction with multiple stakeholders, building and maintaining relationships is vital, and as such, excellent communication skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to

  • Provide business and financial analytical support related to Legg Mason's technology spend in support of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Chief Data Officer (CDO), Chief Finance Officer, project managers, and broader Legg Mason leadership team
  • Assist in the planning process (inclusive of annual plan and monthly projection) for Legg Mason's technology spend by working with project managers, business group leaders, and Finance partners
  • Prepare monthly management reporting and analysis for technology spend, for delivery and presentation to CTO, CDO and broader LM leadership team
  • Assist in preparing technology allocations to LM business groups (budget and actual)
  • Coordinate accounting coding for LM parent company technology spend
  • Assist in the analysis and production of various presentations to Senior Leaders, Executive Management team, and Board of Directors
  • Perform 'ad hoc' analysis addressing issues or concerns regarding financial operating results for any given period
  • Attend meetings to review and discuss performance, business initiatives, and ongoing reporting/analysis requirements
  • Build and maintain relationships throughout Finance, IT, the Chief Data Office and the business groups they support
  • Perform maintenance and development of various reports focused on key operating metrics
  • Other duties as assigned

Ideal Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 5 years experience in a financial, analytical role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; graduate degree or CPA considered a plus
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail, analytical and logical thought processes and planning skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently and collaborate with other team members to achieve tasks, goals and expectations of Finance and IT
  • Ability to present to senior leaders within the IT and Finance departments
  • MS Excel and PowerPoint proficiency required
  • Experience with Hyperion's Financial Management and Essbase desired
  • Experience with Workday general ledger desired, but not required
