Position Overview

Financial Guard is currently hiring a Java Developer for our beautiful offices in Stamford, CT. Candidates must have proven experience with Java/JEE, SQL Server/Oracle Databases and web Technologies. This position involves using established work procedures to analyze, design, develop, implement, maintain, re-engineer high-performing, scalable, enterprise-grade applications with robust set of services and APIs while ensuring commitment and quality.

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to

  • Translate application requirements and use cases into functional applications
  • Build well designed, well-engineered, stable, scalable and reliable applications.
  • Follow software design best practices such as continuous integration, test-driven development, and regular deployments.
  • Take ownership of the success of the team with a "gets things done" attitude; the ability to understand and leverage new technologies.
  • Participate and lead code review sessions.
  • Interact and communicate effectively and clearly, in writing and verbally within the team and across the organization.
  • Responsible for evolving existing products.
  • Work with DevOps team to setup and migrate existing applications to cloud.

Ideal Qualifications and Experience

  • Proficient Developer with 80 % - 85% experience "moving dirt" and meeting the deliverables to best create functions and features.
  • 25% - 30% mobile and front-end development
  • 20% support of existing applications.

Ideal Qualification and Experience

 

  • Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience developing applications using Java/JEE, Web Services and Database Technologies.
  • Excellent understanding of object oriented concepts, multi-threading, data structures and algorithms.
  • Must have experience in securing applications and APIs using authentication and authorization frameworks.
  • Excellent understanding of Financial Markets and Financial Planning.
  • Working knowledge of optimization techniques, regression techniques and Monte Carlo simulation
  • Solid experience creating and consuming web API’s using SOAP, REST, etc.
  • Solid understanding of web architecture/design and web best practices.
  • Excellent understanding of frameworks such as Jersey/JAX-RS, JAX-WS.
  • Excellent knowledge of Relational (Oracle, SQL Server)/NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB) Databases.
  • Excellent knowledge of Spring/Spring Boot Technologies.
  • Experience in integrating with 3rd party calculation engines and APIs.
  • Experience with Release management and build management using GIT, Jenkins
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum Environment.
  • Experience working with AWS is a big plus.
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship from Legg Mason.
