Position Overview

The Business Analyst is brand new due to Legg Masons growth. We are looking to build out a savvy and agile BA team and this person will be a part of this team. This person will help us deliver succinct and effective communication to senior leadership.

 

In addition, they will need to provide strategic leadership of business analyst best practices. They will be immersed in cross-functional / global teams to ensure project outcomes are aligned with business objectives. This ideal candidate will need 3-5+ years of experience of structured requirements management while utilizing industry business analysis standard techniques.

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to

Key Responsibilties:

  • Partner with Business Unit (BU) stakeholders to research, define, and document business requirements for new business processes and systems or enhancements to existing processes and systems. Collect and understand the business requirements for the project and translate those into functional requirements.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of business analyst best practices.
  • Ensure all methodology and quality is aligned with the business objectives.
  • Understand the short & long-term business and technology objectives. Support suggested requirements of management strategies to meet those objectives and continually support innovation to business processes.
  • Participate in project teams of indirect resources as needed.
  • Engage in project initiation phase to support the assessment of resource skill sets required; help produce requirement delivery plan artifacts, and co-ordinate estimates of effort required for a project.
  • Help define quality attributes, external interfaces, constraints, and other nonfunctional requirements. Help thoroughly document workflows and results of business analysis.
  • Help provide expertise on the tools for delivery methodology to enable requirements modeling, review process, documentation and specification management.
  • Assist with requirements analysis and verification, ensuring that requirement statements are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, traceable, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable.
  • Partner to conduct requirements review sessions.
  • Assist team in translating business requirements into application architecture and system functionality.
  • Partner with team mates to maintain requirements repository and ensure proper updating of requirements for completeness and correctness.
  • Help support requirements through testing.
  • Support knowledge transfer to training organization for training material development.

Ideal Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

  • 3 -5 + years experience of structured requirements management utilizing industry standard techniques (process modeling, data modeling, use cases, JAD, case tools, etc.)
  • Experience eliciting requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, storyboards, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, event lists, business analysis, competitive product analysis, task and workflow analysis, and viewpoints.
  • Experience with decomposing high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements and quality requirements, specified in an appropriate level of detail suitable for use by those who must base their work on the requirements.
  • Background with various software development methodologies, i.e,. Agile, Waterfall
  • Knowledge of project management concepts and methodology.
  • Working with Agile tools like Jira and Confluence is a plus
  • Prior experience working in the Financial sector is a plus
