Position Overview

If you are looking to enhance your personal reputation as an investment market professional committed to delivering investment solutions across asset classes, look no further. Legg Mason is seeking a new Business Development Manager to work with advisers across Australia and actively identify opportunities, promote the wider Legg Mason suite of capabilities, brand, & reputation, all with the objective of increasing sales and retaining assets. 

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to

As a BDM, your objective will be to build on Legg Mason’s presence and lift Legg Mason’s profile across the Australian Adviser community with the support of the Director of Sales (Wealth Management) in Melbourne, in addition to the following: 

  • Achieve a full product understanding of Legg Mason affiliates that are distributed within Australia
  • Achievement of activity, sales, and expense budgets in accordance with individual objectives
  • Growth in assets year on year to contribute to annual team target
  • Actively participate in driving the Wealth Management strategy of the business and executing upon it
  • Provide product, service, and system support to clients and prospects as required in support of our targeted distribution
  • Maintain client records, pipeline activity, and meeting notes through the company’s contact management system (Salesforce)
  • Add value to the Wealth Management product strategy and pipeline by engaging with all key stakeholders and demonstrating a solutions based approach to selling
  • Provide market intelligence to the broader business including the marketing team and work with marketing utilising the “one to many” approach to engage target lists
  • Comply with the ethical standards contained in the Legg Mason Code of Conduct
  • Adhere to firm policies and procedures, regulatory, and legislative requirements
  • Ensure fulsome attendance at key events, including annual Investment Roadshow and Post Earnings Season Panel
  • Attending dealer conferences and professional development sessions 

Ideal Qualifications and Experience

  • 3 - 5 years’ experience within a similar role
  • Finance, Accounting, Economics or Marketing major advantageous
  • Professional investment management qualifications are advantageous
  • Self-starter, with demonstrated proactive approach to IFA management
