Position Overview

Do you want to join a fast growing FinTech organization that's part of a well-established, reputable Asset Manager? Our Alternative Distribution Strategies (ADS) team is growing and seeking a Business Manager to serve as an Investment Advisor Operations Manager.

 

ADS is a division of Legg Mason Global Distribution with a vision to drive customer intimacy by offering highly personalized solutions, enhanced by technology. The ADS team is focused on developing and implementing alternative methods to deliver Legg Mason investment solutions to new and existing clients. In doing so, the team oversees and continues to build out a series of portfolio analytics tools and digital advice platforms (e.g. robo-advisor solution) to support investors, advisors, and the Legg Mason distribution organization.

 

The Operations Manager will oversee the firm’s day-to-day back office, reporting, and billing for the Robo Advisory Platform and develop and monitor proper controls around daily trade implementation. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving the existing automated business and client facing reports information, system standards, and human resources interface. Development and maintenance of firm policies and procedures as well as ensuring the technology infrastructure operates smoothly and as needed to support business operations and growth plans.  Role may include day-to-day management of third-party relationships with client custodians or technology and customer support solution providers. 

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to

  • Supporting the ADS leadership team in executing the business plan
  • Managing to budget (including invoicing and bill payment) and business reporting (dashboard content)
  • Identifying and aligning resources required for business, including technology
  • Managing performance reviews and professional development plans for team
  • Participating in the recruiting, development and retention of a qualified, competent professional staff
  • Working with team members as necessary to implement improvements
  • Managing relationships with external resource providers to maintain excellent and timely communication among all involved parties
  • Participating in strategic meetings with ADS leadership team
  • Ensure all team members seek ways to systematize the business to increase efficiency
  • Ownership of master project list and special projects as needed

Ideal Qualifications and Experience

  • 5-7 years of business management experience across a range of business disciplines
  • Qualified or possesses requisite experience in investment advisory operations financial reporting and analysis capabilities including budgeting and cash flow management
  • Excellent general IT infrastructure knowledge
  • Excellent human capital management knowledge
  • Building financial-advice-related compliance knowledge
  • Financial planning industry knowledge

 

Requirements:  

  • Proven ability to oversee the enhancement and implementation of firm operational procedures and workflow. Design efficient system process and workflow
  • Possess a passion to help team members and clients with skills to delegate and inspire/motivate staff to achieve high standards
  • Ability to understand the big picture - goal-oriented, task driven
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong process and planning orientation
  • Ability to drive project management/implementation to meet deadlines and make effective decisions under pressure
