Position Overview

Are you a strategic HR Business Partner who loves collaborating with senior leadership and making a real difference within your organization? Our HR Relationship Management team is hiring a strategic Sr. Human Resources Business Partner to join the Stamford, CT office.


The Sr. Business Partner will report to the Head of HR-Relationship Management and will support our US Distribution organization (all things sales and marketing), located principally in Stamford, CT; New York, NY; and Baltimore, MD.

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to

  • Aligns Legg Mason and HR strategy with the business objectives of designated client groups; fully understanding the business of each client group and participating in key meetings with management
  • Analyzes and translates trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies. In addition, bridges the gap between data, analysis and decision-making. Embraces data-driven decision-making and helps business leaders connect talent decisions to business outcomes and to diagnose and prescribe talent actions.
  • Partners and consults with client groups on all matters relating to compensation, training and development, talent management, and other needs as they arise liaising with communities of expertise.
  • Assists in the development of programs/events that build motivation and retention, including all aspects of Talent Management;
  • Provides guidance and input on client group restructures, workforce planning and succession planning;
  • Works closely with Compensation Team on the strategy and implementation of compensation processes to ensure equity internally and with the market;
  • Assists leaders in forecasting and planning their talent pipeline requirements to ensure headcount demands are met including recruitment, retention and engagement
  • Works closely with Talent Acquisition team to attract and retain new talent, as well as negotiate complex offers
  • Identifies new opportunities where HR can add value to the business
  • Maintains a knowledge of progressive HR practices and key trends

Ideal Qualifications and Experience

  • Excellent consultative, client service and interpersonal skills; able to effectively influence and manage key relationships across diverse departments and organizational levels;
  • Ability to work autonomously with a self-motivated work ethic; utilize sound judgment with an ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency;
  • Ability to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation;
  • Ability to negotiate through issues to create a win-win outcome;
  • Proven track record of results in a fast changing environment; execution oriented problem solver

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related area;
  • Some experience within the Financial Services industry highly preferred;
  • Experience in a global, matrixed organization a plus;
  • 7-10 years Human Resources experience, or relevant business experience;
  • Superior analytical skills with a data mindset;
  • Solid PC/software, Excel skills and HRMS systems knowledge (Workday experience a plus);
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Excellent organization, prioritization and multitasking skills;
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy;
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with employees and colleagues at all levels across the organization
