Position Overview

Legg Mason is seeking a Client Reporting Associate/Data Analyst to handle the update process required to provide accurate and timely product data reporting across all vehicles, while specifically managing the SMA data process. This person would support and produce analytical reports for the RFP team. The professional we seek is highly motivated, works well independently, as well as part of a team, has great attention to detail, and is able to multi-task and take on responsibility within a fast paced, demanding work environment.

Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to

  • Manage monthly/quarterly data characteristics process for the Legg Mason SMA business using Factset/internal systems;
  • Support/Assist the RFP Writers in gathering and analyzing data (quantitative) in order to complete RFPs, RFIs, due diligence questionnaires and update consultant databases;
  • Be the primary point of contact for external affiliates and technology (GIBS) for product data – work to build out and understand Data Governance rules for all products
  • Ability to analyze and test data in new systems in order to support the due diligence team and create meaningful reports for clients, senior management and other internal groups within Legg Mason.
  • When appropriate, partner with Legg Mason’s Investment Product Management, Legal, Compliance and Operations teams in order to provide excellent service
  • Back up to Due Diligence team for RFP requests

Ideal Qualifications and Experience


  • Experience using Factset required. Working knowledge of Lipper, Morningstar and other investment management applications as well as the ability to quickly learn other internal reporting programs.
  • Excellent analytical & communication skills.
  • Proven ability to interface with all levels in an organization, and coordinate efforts to produce the maximum benefits to investment management teams.
  • BA/BS degree in Finance / Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in the completion of RFP's, RFI's and Due Diligence requests preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of Equity, Fixed Income and Alternatives products
  • Experience in completing and maintaining consultant databases would be useful
  • A strong interest in financial markets and the asset management business supported by a good knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Good Microsoft Excel and Word skills

  • Minimum of 5+ years industry experience preferred
