  • Position Overview

    Legg Mason’s internal audit function is co-sourced with Deloitte (DT). This role serves in a vendor oversight capacity with responsibilities including coordination and oversight of audit planning/fieldwork/reporting amongst multiple Legg Mason and DT resources. Additionally, the role is responsible for educating DT team members on appropriate operating procedures and Legg Mason specific background/content and assists DT’s navigation through LM to execute on the annual audit plan.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Partner with the DT core management team to manage day-to-day workflow of the teams (Audit and Subject Matter/Risk Professionals)
    • Provide training and guidance on Legg Mason’s operating model and internal audit program to DT core/subject matter teams as needed
    • Assist DT in navigating across Legg Mason’s corporate and affiliate offices
    • Provide oversight of the SOX or discretionary audit processes
    • Review DT’s audit approach and planning tools
    • Participate in audit scoping, status and exit meetings
    • Monitor the status of the overall audit plan and individual audits
    • Evaluate audit results and recommendations developed by DT, provide feedback as appropriate
    • Review draft audit reports and all deliverables prepared by DT, provide feedback as appropriate
    • Facilitate the resolution of audit issues
    • Address relationship issues and escalate as needed
    • Coordinate/Communicate with DT and internal clients, and escalate issues as necessary
    • Facilitate coordination of DT, PwC, and the Legg Mason Corporate Controls group for SOX testing
    • Assist in maintenance of the SOX management documentation/testing repository
    • Lead process enhancement initiatives as needed and assist in the planning and performing of Affiliate and business unit risk assessments
    • Review audit plans and proposed changes to ensure alignment with the risk assessment and prepare management, audit committee, and board/committee materials as requested
    • Manage aspects of the DT co-sourced arrangement and assess operating model and contribute ideas for improvement
    • Manage logistics and resolve issues as they arise

     

     

     

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors Degree and 10+ years experience
      • Must have Finance, IT and/or Audit experience
    • Ability to travel 20% of the time
    • Prefer experience with Oracle, automation tools, testing, and cloud migrations.

     

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 

     

    • Certified Information Systems Auditor (“CISA”) certification preferred
    • IT risk and controls background
    • Strong knowledge and understanding of the industry, business units and affiliates
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Strong client relationship management and servicing skills
    • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
    • Able to interact in a professional manner with employees and colleagues at all levels across the organization
    • Able to collaborate successfully and interact with various individuals, teams, and departments throughout a global organization
    • Effectively manages vendor relationships
