    Legg Mason's Product Management team in Stamford, CT is seeking an innovative and intellectual product guru to join the team. If you have a Sales background and are seeking to learn the 529 business, this may be a great opportunity for you!


    The Product Specialist will know all the nuts and bolts to Legg Mason's 529 product. They will also be a key partner to Legg Mason's Regional Directors and serve as the 529 product expert for the Sales and Marketing teams. 

    Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to

    • Actively promote 529 business through continuous in person and virtual meetings with clients.
    • Build strong relationships with Legg Mason Sales; serve as  a key resource for 529 expertise.
    • Collaborate with Legg Mason Sales on in-branch meetings to promote 529 business.
    • Originate, produce, and promote campaigns and sales ideas in conjunction with Marketing, Sales, and Business Management.
    • Develop and promote ideas that illustrate competitive advantages of 529s.
    • Conduct ongoing 529 training programs for internal and external sales forces.
    • Possess, and continually enhance, in depth knowledge of 529 business.
    • Develop annual sales plan with Sales, Marketing, and Product senior management.
    • Track activity metrics related to 529 business.

    Ideal Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
    • May need to travel 50% of the time
    • 3+ years of sales and service experience in Asset Management
    • Series 7 & 63 licensed
    • Excellent computer skills, expert level knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
    • Sales experience in an asset manager distribution capacity preferred
    • Creative thinker/ability to think 'outside the box'
    • Self-motivated, able to operate as team player
    • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Strong planning and organizing skills
    • Able to find common ground and establish common goals with Internal and External teams.
    • Able to manage significant field activity and marketing budget

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Able to be present in the office during regular business hours unless otherwise authorized
    • Able to travel
    • Able to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation
    • Superb public speaking and presentation skills
    • Proactive; solution-oriented
    • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment that experiences a lot of change/heavy volume
    • Able to influence to achieve desired outcomes
    • Able to be goal focused and produce results
