    If you have 1-3 years' experience in financial services and know a thing or two about fee structures of financial instruments, we want to hear from you! Our Distribution Compliance team is hiring a junior- to mid-level Compliance Analyst to work out of our Baltimore, Stamford, or NY (midtown) office. Join our growing Compliance team in this brand new position!

    Key Responsibilities & Duties Include, but not Limited to


    • Provide informed Compliance oversight of the financial aspects of our U. S. product range, including fees and charges – identify risks, identify controls, and monitor control effectiveness
    • Conduct compliance oversight of fees and charges paid to intermediaries in connection with distribution of mutual funds, separately managed accounts, ETFs, collective investment pools, and alternative distribution strategies
    • Review the application of sales charges and share classes to determine clients are treated appropriately
    • Establish policies and procedures to identify, mitigate, and manage conflicts of interest in connection with fees and charges paid to intermediaries or charged to clients (including 12b-1, sub-TA, Revenue sharing, educational programs, conference fees, etc.)
    • Review the effectiveness of controls around the financial aspects of our U. S. product range
    • Review services provided in connection with fees paid to intermediaries (including broker-dealers, RIAs, record keepers, transfer agents, and third-party administrators)
    • Stay current on regulators’ concerns and comments regarding fee arrangements, modify the Legg Mason controls to address regulator concerns, and assist in providing responses to regulatory requests and inquiries
    • Review annual mutual fund contract renewal information, and fee disclosures for accuracy and completeness
    • Prepare and present meaningful compliance metrics regarding fees associated with financial products and services (Legg Mason and Industry level)
    • Verify fees and charges conform to prospectus disclosure
    • Work closely with Legg Mason global fiduciary platform group, business administration, product, distribution, and legal departments and provide compliance guidance regarding fee arrangements & charges
    • Act as a thought leader on best practices regarding fee arrangements and profitability

    Ideal Qualifications and Experience

    • 1-3 years experience in financial services
    • Knowledge with fee structures of financial instruments
    • Experience providing economic analysis and oversight
    • General knowledge and experience relating to investment advisory products
    • Understanding of the security markets
    • Familiarity with regulations governing investment advisers and compliance programs

    • Ability to work independently and follow through on projects
    • Self-motivated, ability to multi-task and complete tasks upon assignment and work within a team
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills
