    Our Investment Risk Management team is responsible for identifying, measuring, managing, monitoring and reporting to management and the Board of Directors, risks that may materially affect Legg Mason. We are currently hiring a Junior Risk Analyst to join the team in Downtown Baltimore that has a passion for technology and experience in programming, econometric math, and data analysis.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide support for a multi-asset investment risk oversight program. Assist a team who reviews and monitors a variety of investment risks. (i.e. liquidity, market, credit, counterparty, leverage and concentrations).
    • Coordinate the large amount of data that comes into the organization from numerous diverse sources. Perform a full suite of data activities including error cleansing, trend identification, querying and data aggregations. Help build a state-of-the-art ecosystem for big data storage and data analytics.
    • Assist in the quantitative techniques used to identify risk taking activities. Help perform regression analysis, stress testing and factor modeling.
    • Assist in identifying key market trends. Monitor daily markets for large or unusual movements. Execute market dashboards and heatmaps for the investment risk oversight team.
    • Build monthly risk reports that drive discussions within the team and broader organization.
    • Ad-hoc Quantitative Analysis: Contribute to new product development, market research and other quantitative initiatives as assigned by members of the team.

    Qualifications:

    • 0-3 years of experience in risk management or the capital markets.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related field.
    • Desire to pursue of PRM, FRM and or CFA designations.
    • Proficiency with Excel and database queries
    • Curiosity and passion to learn risk models and about the financial markets
    • Experience thriving in a fast-paced, creative and innovative landscape.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Self-motivated, curious and able to work independently.
    • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and balance daily work.
    • Ability to travel to our other US and non US office locations on occasion.
    • Ability to be present in the office during regular business hours unless otherwise authorized.
