    Our Investment Risk Management team is responsible for identifying, measuring, managing, monitoring and reporting to management and the Board of Directors, risks that may materially affect Legg Mason. We are currently hiring an Intermediate Risk Analyst to join the team in Downtown Baltimore.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Support the Head of Investment Risk in monitoring and communicating the results of a multi-asset risk oversight program. Review and monitor a variety of investment risks against established risk profiles (i.e. liquidity, market, credit, counterparty, leverage and concentrations). Perform a variety of quantitative techniques such as stress testing, value-at-risk, factor models and econometric math. Communicate risks to senior managers, oversight committees, boards and portfolio managers.

    • Develop and evolve risk program: Add to culture of continuous improvement by developing and testing techniques to identify risks. Integrate big data sets into econometric models and databases to detect patterns. Collaborate and coordinate data storage techniques and technologies. Querying and programming may be required.

    • Ad-hoc Quantitative Analysis: Contribute to new product development, market research and other quantitative initiatives.

    • Communication: Ability to articulate complex findings in a clear and concise manner. Comfortable reporting on portfolio risks, attribution of returns and market dynamics.

    • The investment risk position will be responsible for identifying, measuring and monitoring firmwide risks.


    • 4-8 years of experience in risk management or the capital markets.

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related field.

    • Pursuit of PRM, FRM and or CFA designations.

    • Proficiency with Excel, Bloomberg, database queries, risk models, risk mathematics and large data sets.

    • Experience thriving in a fast-paced, creative and innovative landscape.

    • Strong oral and written communication skills.

    • Self-motivated, curious and able to work independently.

    • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and balance daily work.

    • Ability to travel to our other US and non US office locations on occasion.

    • Ability to be present in the office during regular business hours unless otherwise authorized.
