    Legg Mason’s Enterprise Risk Management organization is searching for an Operational Risk and Internal Audit Manager to join the team.

     

    In this role, you will be essential to Legg Mason’s focus on risk management by liaising with Corporate and Affiliate management as well as our Audit Committee, collaborating to develop risk assessments and assurance plans, and overseeing professional services firms currently providing agile project reviews, operational assessments, audits, and audit support.

     

    To be successful in this role, you must be able to provide thought leadership while bringing a creative problem-solving nature. The ideal candidate will be tech savvy, familiar with Agile audit techniques and methodologies, and have experience working for or with professional services firms on risk management and/or audit engagements.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide thought leadership to our Internal Audit program and Co-Source partner (our partner is responsible for executing all engagements).
    • Manages the staff that make up Internal Audit team.
    • Lead process enhancement initiatives as needed and assist in the planning and performing of Affiliate and Business Unit risk assessments.
    • Manage Professional Services Firms (co-sourced Audit partners), providing direction and feedback to ensure audits are completed on time and correctly.
    • Manage Internal Audit relationships across the enterprise organization.
    • Presents audit results to Executive Management and makes recommendations based upon the results.
    • Partners with the revenue areas to improve efficiency, effectiveness, productivity and control.
    • Serve as a key member of management team that represents Legg Mason in dealings with clients, vendors, and other external bodies.
    • Anticipates and provides solutions to complex finance and accounting problems.
    • Leads projects, allocates resources, and handles employee issues.
    • Designs, develops, and supports systems within the Risk Management area.
    • Works with technologies that support credit risk, market/portfolio risk, and enterprise risk.
    • Responsible for identifying, monitoring, and managing risk associated with the use, ownership, operation, involvement, influence, and development/adoption of technology within the enterprise.
    • Identifies and mitigates risk with individual business units, vendors/partners, affiliates, control functions, and technology groups.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or similar, prefer Master’s Degree.
    • Prefer Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and/or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
    • 12+ years of experience working within internal audit, risk, vendor management/support.
    • Experience working for or with a Big 4 firm or a demonstrated understanding of how they operate.
    • Experience working in an Agile Project Management Environment.
    • Experience working in Asset Management or Financial Services.
    • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, interpret and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong written/verbal communication, presentation, and relationship building skills.
