    Legg Mason’s Global Distribution organization, based in Stamford, Connecticut, is searching for a Data Analyst as a new member of the Client Data Management team.


    The Client Data Management team is essential to Legg Mason’s enhanced focus on being a data driven organization.  The team is responsible for the day-to-day management of the overall quality, completeness and value of client data within Global Distribution from internal, client-provided and 3rd-party sources.  The group is a strategic enabler of robust business intelligence to support the organization’s front-line sales, marketing, and analytical efforts.


    While this role is embedded within the Distribution organization, he/she will work cross-functionally with other internal teams and vendors and ultimately support Legg Mason's big data efforts.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the on-boarding process of new data sets to enhance the segmentation of our client base.
    • Own daily maintenance processes – associating transactions with clients and ensuring accuracy of existing client data.
    • Creation and performance of routine data management tests and controls to ensure the integrity of client records.
    • Work with internal distribution partner representatives to obtain accurate, up-to-date advisor data and load to sales and marketing systems.
    • Extract, transform, cleanse and load data from various sources into the CRM system.
    • Identify new processes to help streamline the data quality and completeness efforts within the CRM system.
    • Business Analysis – Perform ad-hoc analysis and identify potential problems with our sales data and mapping structure.
    • Project Management – Resource allocation, project quality, stakeholder expectations, project budgeting, relationship management. 


    • Bachelor’s in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, or related area
    • Proficient in SQL Server, PostgreSQL or Oracle
    • Excellent Excel skills (pivot tables, macros, formulas, and modeling)
    • Great analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, interpret and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong written/verbal communication, presentation, and relationship building skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with professionals at all levels of the organization (internal customer service).
    • 3+ years of data management experience; prior experience as a Data Analyst ideal.
    • Retail mutual fund, asset management, broker dealer, or other financial intermediary experience a plus.
