  • Position Overview

    Legg Mason is seeking a Channel Marketing Manager to join our Global Marketing organization. This role can be based out Stamford, CT, New York, NY or Baltimore, MD. The Channel Marketing team, part of the Global Marketing and Communications department, and supports the distribution function. The Channel Marketing team is responsible for the development and execution of marketing strategy and related deliverables/communications designed to drive flows and retain assets for the Legg Mason product platform. The Channel Marketing team is also responsible for overseeing the end-to-end client experience and working with all related functions to achieve a seamless journey for LM’s client types.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop, manage, evaluate and review marketing strategy (including content) in line with brand, sales and overall business objectives.
    • Develop, manage and integrate all areas of the marketing mix for all distribution channels and implement key metrics to evaluate effectiveness and ROI, in conjunction with other internal/external stakeholders including:
      • Marketing literature: Working closely with the Content, Product Marketing, Sales and Product Specialist teams to create optimum brand/product positioning and messaging
      • Media Plans: Devise and implement plans, manage external relationships with media buyers and evaluate the related metrics.
      • Create and own a digital strategy, ensuring that content remains current and that it is fully integrated with the corporate message as well as with the regional sales activity.
    • Define and oversee the client experience for the region’s client distribution channels in conjunction with all respective functions.
    • Building a strong partnership with the Sales team to establish joint priorities and gain alignment on strategic plans.
    • Supporting the Head of Channel Marketing on initiatives, as required.
    • Regional budget allocation, management, recording and reporting.
    • Assessing and challenging the marketing strategy through analytics.
    • Cooperate with the regional Sales team at events and conferences, as required.
    • Working closely with key stakeholders (e.g. Global Marketing, ales, Product Specialist group, Product, Compliance, Finance).
    • Partnering with the Compliance department to develop and maintain the knowledge of regional regulations related to financial services
    • Provide insight into the marketing developments both internally and externally to maximize efficiencies.

    Qualifications:

    Technical Skills

    • Proven ability to create marketing strategies and understand their role in supporting overall business goals.
    • Good knowledge of the Client Experience and its role within a client-focused organization.
    • Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills at all organizational levels
    • Excellent understanding of marketing production process (including Compliance) and knowledge of e-commerce.
    • Excellent knowledge of the asset management industry and mutual funds.
    • Technical understanding of investments and different asset classes to enable succinct articulation of the benefits of any given fund.
    • Strong understanding of the main distribution channels and clients
    • Deep understanding of distribution channels and client segmentation.
    • Excellent writing, grammar and communication skills.
    • Strong relationships with conference organizers, agencies and platforms and with marketing managers from peer organizations.
    • Analytical skills
    • Strong project management skills.
    • 7+ years’ marketing experience within financial services.

    • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience required. MBA preferred
    • Marketing certifications an advantage
