  • Position Overview

    Our US Distribution group is seeking a Sales Service Specialist to join the Legg Mason Inbound Call Center in Stamford, CT to provide client service for Legg Mason’s comprehensive suite of investment solutions.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Field inquiries from financial advisors and current/prospective end-clients regarding Legg Mason's investment solutions, including mutual funds, college savings accounts, separately managed accounts and online digital services.
    • Provide information, sales and marketing support and service through in depth investment product and process knowledge.
    • Respond to shareholder inquiries.
    • Liaise with other departments within the organization as well as affiliates, custodian banks, and transfer agents relating to client inquiries and problem resolution.
    • Communicate investment themes and portfolio information to advisors in order to retain existing assets and raise new assets.
    • Manage multiple inbound/outbound client support channels (i.e. phones, email, website, faxes, etc.)
    • Attend training presentations and listen in on product and Portfolio Manager conference calls, as well as participate in weekly PM meetings.
    • Interact and refer leads to/with internal wholesalers and sales directors in order to promote sales, retain assets and to support financial advisors. Opportunity to develop industry knowledge, communication and presentation skills for advancement to a proactive sales role as
    • Assist clients with problem resolution of account opening, maintenances and other inquiries related to client onboarding and client retention.
    • Answer inquiries about online service functionalities and fee related questions


    • 1-3 years of financial industry experience preferred;
    • Ability to develop extensive investment knowledge and tailor message to appropriate client;
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required;
    • Enthusiastic team player and self starter with ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment;
    • Excellent communication and client service skills;
    • Detail and results oriented;
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook proficiency;
    • Willing to obtain Series 7 and Series 63 licenses within 90 days.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Great customer relationship management and servicing skills as well as internal corporate relationship management capabilities
    • Able to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
    • Able to apply knowledge into practical solutions
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Able to be present in the office during regular business hours unless otherwise authorized
    • Able to work well with ever changing priorities and/or situations
