  • Position Overview

    Seeking a driven HR Employee Relations Partner to join our HR-Strategy Solutions team in Stamford, CT. Ideal for an HR professional who has experience ensuring compliance with Company policies as well as federal and state laws and regulations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Demonstrates a strong understanding of company policy, culture, and values, and makes recommendations to resolve complex employment-related matters
    • Partners with HR Business Partners to implement solutions
    • Provides coaching and development feedback to managers and employees
    • Works with business leaders on highlighting key trends in employee relations and actively drives training, systems, and process improvements
    • Provides interpretation of human resource policies, rules, and processes
    • Interprets and ensures compliance with federal and state employment-related and benefits-related laws and regulations
    • Provides technical guidance and training on requirements of applicable employment legislation
    • Develops and implements compliance oversight programs, policies, and processes to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
    • Develops and implements strategy for communicating guidance and processes to Legg Mason's nine affiliates
    • Monitors pending employment-related federal, state, and local legislation and keeps fully informed and knowledgeable about all federal, state, and local labor, employment and benefits laws applicable to Legg Mason
    • Manages immigration cases in coordination with outside counsel
    • Provides guidance on complex leave matters
    • Conducts internal investigations involving workplace conflicts or allegations of policy and/or legal violations; works to ensure issues are properly identified, reported, investigated and resolved
    • Partners with HR Colleagues (e.g., Analytics, Learning and Organizational Development, Compensation, Diversity and Inclusion) to execute business-specific HR strategies
    • Provides data analysis and reporting solutions based on business needs
    • Manages and participates in various HR projects and programs
    • Maintains and protects confidential data with great discretion, judgment, and professionalism
    • Other duties and projects as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree required; advanced degree, JD, or advanced certificate a strong plus (preferred);
    • Minimum 5 years' experience in Employee Relations or equivalent business-facing HR role;
    • 3 years’ experience working on programs related to compliance with statute/regulation (preferably in the area of employment and benefits law) preferred;
    • Exceptional analytical skills;
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
    • Significant combination of formal training and/or experience in conducting workplace investigations into employee concerns;
    • Demonstrated knowledge, interpretation, and application of relevant HR best-practices, employment law standards, and workplace investigative protocols;
    • Project management skills and proven ability to drive programs to implementation;
    • Ability to effectively influence across organizational levels;
    • Ability to work autonomously with a self-motivated work ethic; utilize sound judgment with an ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency;
    • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills
