  • Position Overview

    Our US Sales group is currently seeking a Regional Director (Wholesaler) to join our team. This Regional Director will cover Wirehouse & Independent Advisors in an assigned geographical territory.

    Key Responsibilities:

    •  Responsible for increasing Legg Mason Mutual Fund and Managed Account gross and net sales, market share, and product diversification by leveraging our data-driven business planning process, client segmentation, and consultative selling approach within the territory.
    • Responsible for visiting branch offices within territory regularly to build Financial Advisor relationships, increase brand awareness and gross and net sales;
    • Utilize a data-driven approach and tools to educate Financial Advisors on product offerings
    • Cultivate and manage relationships with Financial Advisors and Centers of Influence by offering sales ideas, market intelligence, key product information, and value add/education via in-person meetings, group presentations, phone calls/screen sharing, and electronic communication.
    • Partner with corresponding Legg Mason representatives in DCIO and VA/Sub-Advised channels to create referral opportunities, and build the Legg Mason brand across channels.
    • High usage of CRM system and additional technology in order to accomplish a data driven territory business plan
    • Develop and facilitate sales seminars, produce and communicate sales ideas, coordinate and participate in regional sales seminars;
    • Develop a business strategy within the territory. The strategy includes developing a firm/branch rotation, implementing business plans around focus firms and identifying business opportunities.
    • Must have demonstrated success with an organized sales process that is enhanced via technology
    • Established relationships at focus firms within territory strongly preferred


    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
    • Minimum of 5 years of sales experience at a Mutual Fund Distributor within territory preferred
    • Must have demonstrated success with an organized sales process that is enhanced via technology
    • Established relationships at focus firms within territory strongly preferred
    • Outstanding communication, organizational, and presentation skills
    • Extensive investment product knowledge and understanding of financial concepts with the ability to articulate a variety of investment topics ranging from fundamental asset classes to alternative investments
    • Data-oriented and analytical; able to apply data to the sales process
    • Excellent listening skills as well as the ability to identify sales opportunities and suggest creative solutions
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to build relationships with Centers of Influence, clients, sales partners, and internal teammates in marketing, product, sales analytics, and other areas.
    • CRM experience strongly desired (i.e. Salesforce.com)
    • Enthusiastic team player and self-starter with ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced sales environment
    • FINRA Series 7 & 63 required
    • Field experience required
    • Approximately 80% travel required
