Seeking a seasoned CPA with public company experience to lead accounting policy for Legg Mason’s Financial Governance and Control team.
As Legg Mason's Accounting Policy Manager, you will monitor all new accounting developments (including items issued by the FASB, SEC, IASB and PCAOB), evaluate the effect they may have on LM and its financial statements, manage the implementation of new guidance, and update internal corporate accounting policies and controls, as appropriate.

- Lead the financial planning process inclusive of the annual plan and monthly projection updates for the US Business Support group
- Prepare monthly management reporting and analysis for the US Business Support Group including variance analysis, budget tracking, and analytics
- Provide business & financial analytical support to Business Support team’s business leaders
- Partner with business units in decision making and problem solving
- Seek efficiencies and process improvements
- Build relationships across the Finance department and Business Support functions
- Lead meetings to review and discuss performance, business initiatives, and ongoing reporting/analysis requirements
- Partner with accounting team as part of monthly close to ensure accurate financials
- Complete other ad-hoc requests and support the business in their decision making
- 8-10 years' financial analysis experience
- Demonstrated ability to pay persistent attention to detail, while maintaining an overall view of the situation and the “big picture”
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently and collaborate with other team members and managers to achieve goals and expectations of the Business Support Team
- Superior analytical skills with good attention to detail and ability to deliver work to a high level of accuracy

Must be able to commute to our Stamford, CT office at least three days per week; may be able to spend time in our NY (midtown) office as well.
